Team 2 are looking very settled in their new class spaces!
With the latest winter blast we are asking that all children have a raincoat, a polar fleece, a hat and gloves at school every day. We hope we do not have to go through another evacuation but, if we do, those items of clothing will be absolutely essential. As we have all learned, it pays to be prepared.

Congratulations! In a week where everyone went the extra distance to adjust to new conditions you really stood out.
It was good to see everyone fitting into our new spaces so well today. It was exciting because it was all so new. Everyone was so positive and welcoming and adaptable. A great start Team 2!
Buses
A quick reminder about the buses: There will be buses labelled Redcliffs Village for children travelling to and from the village. There will be buses labelled Redcliffs School for children travelling to and from the school. The Redcliffs Village bus will not stop at Redcliffs School and the Redcliffs School bus will not stop at the village. Children must make sure they are on the right bus! If brothers and sisters are travelling together they should get on the bus at the same time.
Bags and other gear
Any school bags, polar fleeces, lunch boxes, jackets, musical instruments etc that were left behind at Redcliffs School can be picked up by contacting our caretaker, Chris Smith, and arranging a time to collect the gear.
Teachers have worked really hard today to get class spaces ready for Thursday morning. This means that it is now ok for you to come to the Team 2 area to drop off your bags when you first get to Sumner School in the morning. Team 2 classes are all in the library block. When you come into the classes teachers will show you where to put your bags. School starts at 9.15. The first thing we will do is go to the new Sumner School hall for an official welcome.
Remember the Redcliffs School entrance is from Wiggins Street (where the disco was held).

Wow Team 2 - what a great attitude you had at our learning centre in the bowling clubrooms. It was lovely to see you again. We are looking forward to seeing you in our new temporary 'home' at Sumner School. We think your resilience (bounce-back-ability) is amazing.
When you get to Sumner School on Thursday at 9.15 we are having a special welcome in their new school hall. Then teachers will take you to your classrooms. We are lucky because Sumner is giving up lots of their spaces for us.
Team 2 is going to be in the library block. Room 4 and 6 will share the library space (with a partition separating them). Romm 5 and 7 have their own rooms next to the library. The rooms are not as big as our classrooms but we will all fit. Its a bit like camping.
We are taking all of your desks with us so you will have your books and pencil cases in the new classrooms.
Please do not go to the library block when you arrive at school on Thursday. Stay near the new hall until the welcome starts. You will be taken to your class by your teacher after the welcome.
See you all on Thursday. Remember to wear the Redcliffs uniform!

Kia ora Team 2 students - you were so amazingly brave and calm on Monday. We are thinking of you all and hoping school can reopen next week. We also hope that you are keeping safe in these tough times.

Keep up with your reading! Hopefully you have a good book at home. Christchurch South Library is open and it is a great place to visit. It also has lots of cool interactive stuff to do and a cafe for your parents! The newspaper at the moment has excellent photos and articles on the earthquake. You could make a scrapbook to share at school - remember to put the date on anything that goes into the scrapbook.

Writing: think about doing a photo essay on what is happening in your community or home or around the city. Use a digital camera to take photos and organise them logically, creating captions and information to go with them. You could put this into a power point that we can share at school or into a booklet or poster.
There are also RED Challenges you can do: artwork, design your own, helping others, cooking meals, simple experiments etc

Parents: Thank you if you have offered to help with winter sport. We have accepted all offers and parent helpers will receive a letter on Monday giving details. Check your child's bag! We have a real shortage of help for netball. Do give some thought to helping to run some ball-handling skills with the girls. We have 44 players and only 2 courts so we need to run a rotation on and off the courts. You don't need to be a referee! Let Susie Murphy or Sandy Thomas know if you can help with netball, rugby, soccer, hockey or basketball. It is just for an hour Friday afternoons 1.45-2.45pm.
Transport: None needed. We will walk the children to Redcliffs Park for soccer and McCormacks Bay Reserve for rugby. All other sports will be played at school.
Students: Make sure you have the correct gear at school on Friday. Wear the Redcliffs sports uniform if you have it. Bring all gear no matter what the weather looks like. We will decide before interval if we need to cancel.
Netball - at school - suitable footwear
Hockey - at school - suitable footwear, mouthguards, shin-pads
Basketball - at school - suitable footwear
Soccer (football) - at Redcliffs Park - shin-pads, boots if you have them (otherwise suitable footwear)
Rugby - at McCormacks Bay reserve - mouthguards, boots
