Our last week!

A sad week as we say goodbye and good luck to students going to other schools, and to each other for the year. A happy week as we look back on and celebrate all we have achieved this year.
What an amazing year it has been!
Please look at the weekly diary on the right to see what is on this week. We are expecting all children to be at the Senior Prizegiving on Thursday night (in school uniform).
On Friday there will be no buses as we are not expecting children to come to school. Hopefully everyone can make other arrangements for that morning.  If they do they will be helping to move furniture between classes. There will be no classroom teaching. School will close at 12.30pm.
Enjoy your Secret Santa surprises and your end of year class and team events everyone.
Thank you everyone for your hard work this year and your amazing attitudes. Keep it up until we finish.
Have a great summer break.

Redcliffs scoop the pool!

Congratulations Robb (Year 6) and Caleb (Year 8)!! For the second year in a row Redcliffs speeches won the trophies at the Bays Cluster Speech Competition. Robb's clever speech on healthy food was so well practised and delivered perfectly. Caleb had a very funny 'non pc' speech on what wild life we should be trying to save. His delivery demonstrated masterful comic timing and expression. It was a very entertaining evening, and we were all thrilled with the well-deserved wins.
Other Events:
  • Kapa haka and choir performed beautifully to a packed Sumner hall at the Bays Cluster cultural evening last Tuesday
  • We have a group of successful zone athletes off to the Canterbury Athletics Championship on Thursday. Good luck everyone. Congratulations on your successes so far!
  • Keep an eye open for a letter telling everyone about the Top House event on Friday. This will be like a super duper tabloids with special equipment and everyone in house colours.
  • Room 4 and 6 are emailing each other like crazy on Ultranet - the way of the future!

Watch this space! Living Springs Camp Photos coming here soon!

Focus on Performing Arts! Camp! Sports! Random stuff!

Hi everyone  - as we get into the last half of the term we have many events to practise for.
  • Good luck to choir and kapa haka groups on Tuesday night at the Cultural Festival and to any children who may be playing music or speaking at the Speech Competition on Thursday night.
  • Have you checked out the Team 2 song yet for the Xmas Fun Night? Practices will start this week - it would be great if you already knew the words.
  • We also have singing practices for the end of year assemblies. Who can sign the National Anthem?
People will be practising for their soiree performances too.
Has anyone written a poem yet for the competition? (see earlier blog posts)
  • Welcome back from camp at Living Springs Year 5 and Miss Murphy and Miss Mauchline! We missed you! We are looking forward to the PHOTOs
  • Remember you only have another week and a half before the RED Challenge Rewards Day - you need to have completed all of the required challenges and had them signed off by your teacher to take part.
Congratulations to our 27 Team 2 SE Zone athletes - what a stunning day you had with a number of successes and people going on to the Canterbury Athletics Tournament. More details to come!
Remember to read ANY notices you are given and give them to your parents to read too.
Have a great week
Mrs Thomas

Term 4- a race to the finish line

Welcome back everyone! A great start so far to the term
Keep an eye on the blog this term as we will be trying out a few interactive links.
We are really hoping for a fine day tomorrow for our Athletics. Remember your sunhats and sunscreen as the sun is definitely a lot hotter than last term and the weather is very changeable. Great to see everyone practising for athletics with such enthusiasm and showing real support for each other.
There will be lots of notices coming home in bags this term - remember to pass them on!
Honesty and Integrity: our values this term. What do they mean to you? A chocolate fish to anyone who writes a poem for the blog that captures what either of these values mean to you personally. Give the poems to me or email them to sandy.thomas@redcliffs.school.nz
Have a great week!

Year 6 Camp - at last some news!

You will have all heard tales from Arthur's Pass Camps this year. The good news is no one got left behind!Mr Paxie and I had a super week with fabulous parents, great activities and good weather.
We crossed rivers climbed hills, bushwhacked, visited old huts and power sites, tramped through snow, played in snow, ate snow, fell over in snow, fought in snow..... bird-watched, bird-listened, wallked blindfold, made damper, ate and ate and ate, orienteered, visited glow worms, cleaned toilets, fell out of bunks, snored, coughed, shouted and laughed, got wet and wetter.....
Thanks to Dave our camp manager who knew so much about everything we did!
We have literally hundreds of photos, including some great ones from the first camp that Georgie's dad took on his super dooper whizz bang camera.  If you would like a copy of camp photos bring a flash drive (removable pen drive) to school and we can copy the photos onto it for you.

I am going to try and put a link here on the blog to them now - if that doesn't work I will post a few photos instead.
